The Norwegian Gem has a line up of facilities that you won’t find on other ships of the Norwegian Cruise line, being one of the newer cruise ships in the fleet. There are three swimming pools on the ship, one of which is for the exclusive use of children. Family-oriented facilities are exceptional as this ship is designed to be family friendly. It is the only cruise ship where toddlers do not have to be potty trained to be able to take part in the programs designed for the younger set, even though they do have to be two years of age or older for the Kid’s Club.

The card room is a delightful place with plenty of space to set up a table and engage in a card or board game of your choice. Take a book from the library and curl up on the deck, in one of the bars or on your own balcony. Explore the art in the art gallery, where you just may want to make a purchase that will look wonderful on your living room wall.

Take in a movie showing at the theatre where there are recorded movies for you to watch. It’s just like going to the movies back home. There is a chapel and a chaplain on the ship as well as fully staffed medical centre to tend to your medical needs, should any arise.

Wireless Internet is available and for those who just can’t get completely away from their business when on a cruise there is a business centre. There is even a meeting room for those companies that organize a cruise for their employees and want to get in a few meetings at sea.

Young and old alike will enjoy the video arcades as well as the many opportunities for fitness and relaxation. One of the highlights of this cruise ship is the two story Wii screen. If you haven’t played Wii before, you will certainly want to purchase a game when you get back home.

Even though the Norwegian Gem can carry up to 2384 passengers, there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy themselves on board and take part in all the activities.
