With thirteen fabulous places to dine on the Norwegians Gem, you can feast on the food of your choice when you take a cruise on this ship. Since this ship, like the others of the Norwegian Cruise Lines, prides itself on freestyle cruising, you don’t have to abide by times for eating any of your meals. There is open seating in the main restaurants so you can sit where you wish and with whom you wish.

Some of the restaurants do carry an extra charge, such as the French Le Bistro, Cagney’s Steakhouse, the Orchid Garden and the Teppanyaki Room. The Blue Lagoon is open 24 hours a day and serves the food buffet-style so that you can sample just about everything on the menu during your cruise. The selections change daily and at no time will any of the containers be empty.

Enjoy Italian pizza and scrumptious Italian desserts at La Cucina or if you prefer Tex-Mex cuisine, then Tequita Latin is the restaurant for you. The Grand Pacific and the Magenta are the main restaurants on the ship where you will have your own maitre d’ at your table and the finest of china and crystal. This is the venue for the lavish parties and where you can feast on a five-course meal. However, the dress code of the Norwegian Gem is casual so you don’t have to bring any formal wear with you.

The Garden Cafe is also a venue where you can enjoy buffet style dining. Children won’t complain they don’t like the food on the ship because there is a Kid’s Corner that serves foods all children like. Parents can feel assured that the choices offered are healthy and nutritious as well as tasty.

One of the conveniences the Norwegian Gem offers passengers who do want to dine in a particular restaurant and don’t want to spend time waiting in line, you can retire to one of the bars and lounges and you will be beeped when you table is ready. Such favourites that often have lines include the Cheesecake Factory and the Outback Steakhouse.

Wherever you dine on this ship, the food will exceed all your expectations in the preparation, taste and the manner in which it is displayed on your plate. If you have specific needs in food, such as if you are a diabetic, the staff will be happy to accommodate your needs. You don’t have to worry that you will only have high calorie choices as there is always a light menu available in every venue.
